8-Week Memoir Writing Classes – Limited to 6 students – All levels Welcome!

In this 8-week session, you will tap deep into your creative potential and come away with a large body of work. This is a generative writing class, where you will receive the guidance, support and space to dive into your writing. All levels of experience welcome.
Format: Every class begins with a brief discussion of craft and a literary example from writers like Annie Lamott, Dani Shapiro and Cheryl Strayed. You will then receive a guided writing prompt and the time and space to let your words flow. At the end of the writing sessions, you will have the opportunity to share your work in a facilitated, positive environment.
Goals: Some of my students are working on book-length memoirs, others are working on essays and vignettes. Others just want guided, supported writing time to hone their craft and for personal creative expression.
Venue: Classes are held in the studio over my garage near North Boulder Park (the address will be sent in your registration confirmation)
Make-Up Policy: Things happen! If you miss a class, you are welcome to make up the day on a weekend workshop. I offer one workshop a month. The workshops are also open to the general public for $25, a great way to try out my classes.

Online: Writing Through the Chakras: 7 weeks of guided prompts for self-nurturing, self-reflection and transformation
When: Sept 23 – Nov 4: You will receive a self-care email every Sunday morning with a guided meditation and a writing prompt to explore the symbolism of each of the 7 chakras.
The word, chakra, comes from the ancient Indian language, Sanskrit, meaning “circle” or “wheel.” The chakras are symbolic centers of energy, located from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Each chakra represents a different theme in our bodies and our lives. Every week, we will explore the symbolism of a different chakra, using writing as a tool for contemplation, expression and transformation.

Eat Breathe Thrive: a six-week yoga-based program for healthy body image and mindful eating; co-facilitatied with the wonderful Sarah Kit Farrell, Limited to 10 Students: Eat Breathe Thrive
Tuesdays, March 13, 20, (skipping March 27), April 3, 10, 17, 24, 6:00-8:00pm
This transformative 6-week program combines yoga and mindfulness-based practices to support healthy eating, emotional resilience, and body confidence. It is open to all genders, ages fourteen and up. The program was developed by Eat Breathe Thrive, a not-for-profit organization that has helped thousands of people around the world overcome food and body image challenges.
ABOUT US: Ashley Shires, MA, has taught mindful yoga flow classes for 17 years. She is certified in Ashtanga yoga with Richard Freeman and has a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing. Her passion is to help students tap deep into their hearts, break old, limiting patterns, find their wings and fly. Finding Your Wings: Guided Journaling Workshop

Dreaming into manifestation through knowing ourselves.
In this guided journaling workshop with Ashley Shires, MA, and guest teacher Sandra Trattles, RMT, BA, PDHom(UK), you will be led through guided meditations and journaling prompts to tap deep into your heart and your creativity, gaining clarity, realigning with your true self and shining light on your true path. Like any adventure, the process requires courage to see what you have and what you can truly be.
Sandra: I work with you to uncover what you are best at being, supporting an expansion of this force. This ‘tour of yourself’ sheds light on your specific magic. My wish is that you can find your stars clearly marked and yourself more grounded as we illuminate this truth.
Ashley: My passion is helping others fall in love with writing as a tool for self-reflection and transformation. I have taught writing at the University of Colorado, Santa Monica College, Baruch College, and the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth. Fundraising Campaign for UN Women Projects in Vietnam and Cambodia: Ride for Rights
I was thrilled to participate in Ride for Rights in 2016, visiting UN Women projects from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to Siem Reap, Cambodia (by bicycle!). I am so proud that I achieved my goal of raising $3,000, all of which was donated to the UN Women projects we visited, helping to raise women out of poverty and end violence against women and girls.
